He ordered his general Qutb-ud-Din-Aibak to destroy the temple and construct a mosque at the place in two days. Since the artisans could not build a mosque in two days, they only built a screen for prayers. Since it was completed in two days, it is called Adhai Din ka Jhopra. Muslims, even today, worship at this place.
