A thousand heads of Sheshnag protect Lord Vishnu and Goddess Lakshmi. According to Vedas, Sheshnag created this lake by digging it out from the earth. He still resides deep down in some part of the lake. Sheshnag is a very sacred snake in Hindu mythology and is deeply connected to tales of Krishna and ancient Hindu scriptures. It is none other than Sheshnag who assisted the Devas in the churning of the ocean by turning itself into a rope.
Sheshnag Lake Trek is an easy trek, but some sections of this trek are difficult. The trek gives you scenic views of the mountains and rocky terrain. Lidder River is a major river that flows here and this river will follow you on this trek. You will come across pilgrims who are going on the Amarnath Yatra route.
