Sheshnag is one of the famous mythological characters of Hindu mythology. Sheshnag is the King of Snakes, who has 1000 heads. Lord Vishnu rests is often shown resting on the coils of Sheshnag. A thousand heads of Sheshnag protect Lord Vishnu and Goddess Lakshmi. According to Vedas, Sheshnag created this lake by digging it out from the earth. He still resides deep down in some part of the lake. Sheshnag is a very sacred snake in Hindu mythology and is deeply connected to tales of Krishna and ancient Hindu scriptures. It is none other than Sheshnag who assisted the Devas in the churning of the ocean by turning itself into a rope.
